JBA Team Dominator GTA
Welcome to jbadominator.com. Here you will be able to research the design, development, campaign and preservation of one of the most significant vehicles produced by the aftermarket performance specialty sector. The JBA Dominator GTA.
The Ford Mustang has long since been considered the primary American choice when looking for a performance vehicle at an affordable price. A true representation of the contemporary definition of the 1960's term "American Musclecar".
With GM's elimination of the F-Body and Fords dedication to the Mustang platform, it is our opinion that the Ford Mustang will continue to hold it's dominance in the market.
In a comment on the MyLrs blog J. Bittle, JBA Racing's President and Father of the Dominator, had this to say: [link]
"Thanks for keeping the JBA Dominator as was intended, a true prototype but production based, a Super Car by Ford. We used trans am racing as a link long before we ever thought Ford would ever build a GT or even that SVT would rise out of SVO. A little known fact is that we built a 585 CID JBA engine to go into the Dominator and run at Bonneville. It never made it into the Dominator but it too still lives and with today's engine management capabilities it would have been interesting to see its next development. That project was a collaboration between us and included sitting in a cubical with a young Ford Engineer named Brian Wolfe with the support of Hank Dertian and Ed Lyons of SVO. In 1989 getting the ECM was not the problem; the project ended in the manifold design process. We felt the project had to be EFI and the economic slow down of the early 1990's slowed the project, eventually ending it. Our A460 headed engine made with a 1- 4v Holley 870 HP and now lives in a San Diego nostalgia drag race '61 Starliner."
